Downtown Seaford Association Scarecrow Competition

Get creative this fall and join the Downtown Seaford Association Scarecrow Competition! Local businesses and residents are invited to design and display their most imaginative scarecrows throughout the community.

The competition will feature five award categories, with one winner selected in each:

Traditional
Sci-Fi
Scariest
Mythical
Comical

Competition Dates: September 26 – November 7
Entry Fee: $25 per pole
Open To: Businesses and residents
Prizes: Trophies and cash awards will be presented to the winners!

Participants must register online through the Downtown Seaford Association website, where complete competition rules will also be posted.

Bring your creativity, personality, and fall spirit to Downtown Seaford and help transform the community into a festive showcase of scarecrows!

RETURN DAY PARADE

Return Day in Georgetown, Delaware, is held and organized by the Sussex County Return Day Committee, Inc.

It’s the historic Sussex County held in Georgetown on the Thursday after Election Day. The celebration includes the parade, reading of election results, the ceremonial “burying of the hatchet,” vendors, entertainment, and the traditional ox roast.

This year is the 214th time we have celebrated Return Day! This is the last Celebration in Sussex County this year, celebrating the United States 250th Anniversary! Join the Parade by completing the form and emailing us or mailing it in.

We provide a platform for vendors to showcase their unique offerings at our seasonal events, enhancing community engagement and driving local economic vitality. Join us in making Seaford a destination for quality and community. Events typically reserve a 10ft x 10ft space, considered a single space; 20ft x 20ft would be classified as double vendor space. Please classify if you require access to an electrical outlet.
